Retention & Engagement
The First-Year & Early-Tenure Nurse Retention Tracker measures the turnover that happens inside the first twelve months — the attrition driven by onboarding, preceptorship and unit fit rather than by pay or career stage. Enter each unit's new-hire headcount by cohort and log every departure inside your first-year window with its months of service and reason, and the workbook computes the first-year rate by unit and cohort, the first-year share of all separations, and the tenure bands where departures cluster. A cohort with no headcount entered yields a BLANK rate, never 0%, so a unit nobody has counted is never mistaken for one with perfect retention. It ships no national first-year benchmark: the edition-stamped reference data behind this line does not hold one, so the comparators offered are your own prior-period rate and the cited NSI national OVERALL turnover rate, clearly labelled as all-staff.
